Continuing with my presentation of the ABCs of the Golden Decade - TopicsExpress

Continuing with my presentation of the ABCs of the Golden Decade of Music 1965-1974, where I am selecting the artists alphabetically and playing selections of their songs I liked or found influential from that Golden Decade. I am currently in the Bs and taking the next step to now play one from The Chambers Brothers, four brothers (Lester, Joe, Willie and George) who honed their singing talents singing in their church choir in Carthage, MS. After moving to Los Angeles in the early ‘60s and in ’65 Brian Keenan joined the group as their drummer. The song of theirs I am playing is Time Has Come Today, a song recorded and released on the album The Time Has Come in November 1967. Although the single never quite reached the top ten in America, spending five weeks at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall of 1968. To date, Time Has Come Today is considered one of the landmark rock songs of the psychedelic era. Keenan’s eerie drumming on Time Has Come Today was one of the elements of success of that hit. Various effects were employed in its recording and production, including the alternate striking of two cowbells producing a tick-tock sound, warped throughout most of the song by reverb, echo and changes in tempo. https://youtube/watch?v=_zfgoJzOCgg
