Continuing with posting some drills we use for all of lessons we offer here @ Next Level. This one I use to teach the mechanics of throwing the rise ball. It is screwing 2 balls together. (and I wished I would have made them to sell them because someone is doing that and I started this drill about 8 years ago - oh well!) I will not get technical by going over our grip but I will say that the goal to create BACK SPIN! Not a propeller blade spin! If you are attempting to throw a rise ball and you see a dot in the back of the ball as it is spinning it is NOT a rise ball!!! It might be a good HIGH pitch but it is NOT a rise ball. Backdraft is what causes a ball to rise just like a ball that goes over the fence - it is what defies Newtons Law of Physics. If you are coming to me for lessons and you are working on the rise you should already know this. Here I go - going too long. I dont want to use this to get girls to come to us for lessons - - wait a minute - yes I do! ***I want to show you what we know and what we do AND why we do it! If you are not coming to use does your instructor cover the physics, the application of the muscles, and the how to with the lesson? So look for more postings in the future. I am going to post a 2nd video at regular speed. Thanks to my 3 volunteers - Hailee, Acacia, & Emma - for allowing me to video tape them.
