Continuity with the Legacy PF thugs travelling to Kitwe to attend Edgar Lungu’s meeting last evening attacked UPND supporters in Kabwe. UPND supporters had gathered to welcome their leader Hakainde Hichilema when the PF cadres attacked them using machetes and bottles. Four UPND supporters were injured. Lawrence Sakala Mwale, Mubita Kachina, Chileshe Chanda and another unnamed youth sustained serious wounds on the lips and heads, Mwale still remains in Kabwe general hospital while oters were attended to and discharged Lst night. Mwale’s Toyota Hiace minibus registration number ALM 5693 also had the windscreen shattered. Earlier in the morning Kabwe based PF thug Saidi Chibwana mobilised PF thugs who were paid and clad in their party regalia to intimidate UPND supporters and block them from welcoming Hichilema. Meanwhile UPND central province youth leader Milner Mwanakampwe has called on the police to arrest Chibwana and his fellow thugs, he has also advised that PF must restrict their blood spilling violence to themselves. Mwankampwe warned the PF thugs not to push their luck too far as UPND had full capacity to hit hard. “We reported the matter to police and are expecting them to do their job professionally and I want to warn Chibwana to restrict his thuggery to PF because UPND is a peaceful party but will not condone harrassment. If police do not take action today, we are going to hit hard at any PF thug that will come our way, this is not an empty threat and we have the capacity,” warned Mwanakampwe. And all is set for the UPND rally at COMET Makululu grounds this morning while Hichilema will also appear on Kabwe’s privately owned KNC radio for an interview where he is expected to contnue outlining the UPND vision.
