Continuous integration on mobile devices? As close as you can - TopicsExpress

Continuous integration on mobile devices? As close as you can get, according to Greg Shackles. Carl and Richard chat with Greg about taking advantage of the continuous integration features available today when building mobile applications. Obviously the big stumbling block for mobile apps is the AppStores, and Greg digs into the limitations around them. This means, of course, that you can only go so fast, but continuous integration is not only about speed. The discussion digs into the other aspect of automation when it comes to building and testing software - repeatability and reliability. Greg also talks about avoiding new deployments to AppStores by doing internal changes to applications, fetching new data from your own servers, embedding browsers into applications to retrieve additional content and other techniques that can keep your application evolving without waiting around for the AppStore to deploy your new bits. Greg has an awesome presentation from Evolve about mobile CI at https://youtube/watch?v=Awl4vGo7Yj0 if you want to learn more. Listen to the show at ow.ly/E2oUT.
