Log in to refer a friend World class Global Manufacturing Co. North East, UK. Currently looking to recruit 2 x Senior Buyers on a fixed 6 month contract. You will be an out and out contractor with a strong profile in Electrical / Electronics purchasing. A proven strong negotiator comfortable working to KPIs. Duties & Responsibilies; 1. Supplier Negotiations • Negotiate prices for nominated Suppliers & Materials • Agree Supply strategies with Suppliers • Investigate all opportunities to reduce Material purchase price 2. New product introduction To be involved in the introduction of new products from the earliest stages to ensure that the most appropriate suppliers are being considered. This will include but not limited to: • Attending project meetings • Issuing enquiries and analysing replies • Selecting the most appropriate supplier using all available tools and procedures • Ordering tooling and initial product runs to meet required timescales 3. Supplier management: • Supplier selection: Complete evaluation documentation by visiting suppliers premises and to assess a company’s capability of becoming a supplier of production materials and components. • Supplier development: To regularly meet with suppliers to review their performance against the agreed KPI’s and to set targets for improvement. • Supplier base management: To manage the supplier base in terms of number and quality of the suppliers used. • Market research: Continuously review commodity groups/markets/trends/suppliers. Investigate supply potential from anywhere in the world. • Support Scheduling function in instances where a Supplier has failed to meet delivery/ Quality promise 4. Costs: • Value analysis: To represent purchasing on VA/VE initiatives • Continuously look for opportunities to reduce cost and generate favourable purchase price variance. 5. To adhere to the Company’s policies including equal opportunities, health and safety, standards of dress and behaviour, this also includes participating in the Company performance review / appraisal scheme and in training and development opportunities as appropriate. 6. Health and Safety • Ensure your own health and safety at work and the health and safety of anyone else who might be affected by your acts and omissions. • Co-operate to ensuring compliance with any relevant legal requirements. • Not to intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare. • Use any personal protective equipment relevant to the task you are doing or the area where you are working • Communicate any known hazards / faults to prevent incident to yourself and others 7. Environment: • Comply with environmental legislation • Comply with company guidelines with regards to the environment • Actively work towards reducing impacts created by the business to the environment • Dispose of any waste in the correct manner in line with guidance and legislation • Participate in environmental improvement activities • Participate in environmental training in line with role and responsibilities Necessary skills & Experience to fulfil the job requirements Vocational training or formal certificates required: • Business degree level preferred / more than 5 years working in an equivalent position in the Purchasing environment. • Preferably CIPS qualified or be prepared to achieve this qualification within agreed timescale. Average professional experience required: • Previous significant experience, in a high volume Manufacturing/ Purchasing environment would be advantageous.
