Contract for Progress. For the first time in the history of St.Kitts and Nevis two parties are coming together to promote progress and democracy across the Federation through the shared principles of mutual respect, fairness, freedom and justice. The ground breaking terms of the Contract for Progress that have been proposed include: (1) Deciding appointments to cabinet, government boards and corporations based on the principle of equity and fairness. (2) Initiating dialogue for constitutional reform in order to increase political stability and strengthen democratic rule. (3) Expanding the mandate and reach of the SIDF to support Kittitian and Nevisian nationals in need of financial assistance. (4) Promoting education through the expansion of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and its upgrade to University status, as well as through the establishment of tertiary education scholarships. (5) Ensuring that the National Health Scheme covers the whole population in ST.Kitts and Nevis. (6) Modernizing the Federations Police Force and Fire and Rescue Services by allocating additional resources for more officers, equipment and training. (7) Supporting small and medium enterprises to boost entrepreneurship and establish the Federation as a regional economic nexus. (8) Making SKNAB land acquired through the land for debt swap available at reasonable cost for agriculture, housing and business. (9) Improving public and tourist infrastructure across the Federation and between Basseterre and Charlestown. PROGRESS FOR NEVIS!!
