Contrary to modern day belief and doctrine from our pulpits and telecasts, my friend, do you know that your relationship with God and His acceptance of you is not based upon your good deeds? It is not based upon your offering of a blood sacrifice at any designated shrine and it is neither based on your doing a series of charitable acts of kindness; nor your membership of a particular denomination. It is not based upon anything that you produce, achieve, possess or earn. Rather, your relationship with God is based upon on your belief – believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Saviour of the world and the Lord of lords, who came in the flesh to save us from our sins (Math 1:21; Rom 10:9). For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom 10:9). When Thomas, one of His disciples, asked, “Lord, we have no idea where You are going, so how can we know the way?" Or, in other words, how can we know the way to God and be in relationship with Him? Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to God, the Father, except through Me” (John 14:5-6). My friend, did you hear that? Listen! When you believe in Jesus Christ, God considers all barriers and the veil between you and Him to be destroyed. There are no works or good deeds you must do; or anything you must possess, produce, earn or accomplish before God extends His love, grace, mercy and salvation to you. Behaviour is the substance of religion but belief is the substance of relationship. Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with the Almighty God, through Jesus Christ. The way to be right with God in every religion is by earning your way. It is based on works, not grace. Christianity is different from every religion in this aspect: all other religions state that you must earn the right to be reconciled with God but Christianity says your relationship with God is based upon on your belief. Other religions state that it is by what you do in this life (good deeds or bad deeds) that determines your eternal destiny. Christianity is completely different from this. It is not religion. It is not a creed, a code, a cause, a church or a denomination. It is Christ Himself! You cannot take Jesus Christ out of Christianity and still have Christianity. A Christ-ian is simply defined as Christ + I am nothing! Are you one of them?
