Contrary to the misconception that Boko Haram is the political tool of the North to make the country ungovernable under President Jonathan because he is a Southern Christian, we should get our facts right as Boko Haram insurgency started under late president Musa Yaradua. I can still recall that between July 26 and 29, 2009, there was war in Borno, Bauchi and Kano, with the security forces killing over 700 of the terrorists. Even when there was outcry of extra- judicial killings of the insurgents, Yaradua urged Muslims not to sympathize with the insurgents. He spoke in Brazil where he went on official tour, that the terrorists must be dealt with. So please, we should not politicize the activities of these bastards that should be wiped from the surface of this earth. Jonathans challenge on this issue,no doubt is daunting but what is expected of him is to face this challenge squarely as his predecessor did, who among others, sorted out the issue of militancy at the Niger Delta, in addition to confronting the Boko Harams. So if the Bokos confronted Yaradua, a northerner, the fact that their activities are now more ferocious should not be interpreted to mean that it is because Jonathan is a Southern Christian.
