Controversial role of CHT Commission must be checked All deprivations from citizenship rights, killings and kidnappings being conducted by tribal armed groups must be stopped. The controversial roles being played by Sultana Kamal and other persons- are a clear threat to the communal harmony in CHTs and sovereignty of Bangladesh. Self-declared CHT Commission has no authority to demand implementation of the CHT treaty which has been declared by the High Court as unconstitutional and anti-state. This treaty has already been violated by JSS through resorting to armed terrorism. CHT Commission has violated the sovereignty of Bangladesh and denied the citizenship rights of 1.2 million CHT Bangalees by asking the government to evict these citizens from CHTs. It even recommended asking the government to stop the food relief that being given to the poor Bangalees who are kept as captives in several cluster villages of CHT. It showed total disrespect to the human rights of these citizens. One of the accomplices of this group named A raft has demanded self determination for 0.6 million tribals on the 1/10th portion of Bangladesh. These controversial persons are engaged in anti-state activities who instigate the tribal for armed terrorism against Bangladesh. We demand- what authority the the government has given them. Setting up of any security camp anywhere of the country- is the sovereign authority of the government and no organization such as so called CHT Commission has the right to challenge the sovereign right of the government. This commission is never found critical to the hundreds of killings, kidnappings, extortion and racial violence being perpetrated by tribal armed groups. This commission should be held responsible for all terrorist activities that going on in CHT with their instigation. Under the cover of Human Rights organization, the partisan role and seeds of terrorism being sown by CHT Commission and its agents needs attention of the government. - Faruk Ahmed
