Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Maharashtra, Anjali Damania and Maharashtra State Secretary Preeti Sharma Menon have resigned from all party positions citing personal reasons. Both Ms Damania and Ms Menon have been and will remain pillars of strength for the party and they continue to be with AAP. They have only stepped down from their official positions. Ms Damanias letter to the Maharashtra State Executive Committee Date : 30th September 2014 Dear All, The last three years have been a beautiful period of my life. In the period from IAC to AAP, I have met some outstanding people who have worked selflessly for the country. We have had volunteers who did not have money to last them another day, yet, they were totally dedicated towards the party and the cause. I salute each one of them. I genuinely feel each and every one of us has a duty towards our Nation. I have done it with utmost sense of responsibility and dedication. But, I also have a family to look after, in the last three years, I have stepped out of my responsibility at home putting the entire burden on my in laws. They too are now getting old and I feel it is my duty to get back and look after them and my family. The responsibility of a ‘Convener’ is huge. I have tried to do it to the best of my abilities. Both Preeti and I have the same set of personal problems and hence wanted to relieve ourselves of the positions for sometime. But, we wanted to be sure that the State management is in safe hands. Now with Mission Vistaar, we entrust Prithvi and Atishi to make a new team. I thank all our colleagues, specially Mayankbhai and Sanjay who have been more than a family. Please forgive me for the mistakes which I may have made. I pray for the success of AAP and wish our party all the very best. Both Preeti and I also request your support in helping the party transition to new leadership and give them the same love that you gave us. I request the friends in the media to excuse me. I do not wish to give any reactions. I also request them not to hype up the matter and please understand that everything is not politics. There are some genuine people who have their own set of problems. Movement and politics is not underworld that a person can come ‘in’, but cannot go ‘out’. I need to get back to my life. I request the people at large with folded hands not to have any conspiracy theory of my exit. Values, principles and integrity are the most valuable possessions in my life. I am giving up my responsibility as a State Convener, from the membership of the State Executive and as Spokesperson of the party in Maharashtra. I request to be relieved with immediate effect. Its been an adventure, these last three years and I have discovered the country as well as my own self. In this journey I have done the best I can to live by the ideals I cherish – honesty, goodness, justice and truth. Like all a true adventure, this took every grain of my work, energy, strength, time. When times were rough I was inspired by our great volunteers who have sacrificed so much and continued doing my best. However, every adventure ends and mine ends here. I need to give attention to my personal life and hence I would like to be relieved with immediate effect. I will hand over all my responsibilities to whoever you advise. I continue to be a supporter of AAP and will always be there to help in my small way. I apologize for my inadequacies, and for any hurt I may have caused in my zeal and thank you for all that you have done for me, with me.
