I would do it in a heartbeat if I had the means. This is a big problem. There are so many good people with pets that fall onto hard times - impossible situations that could happen to anyone at any time. They just need some help to get back on their feet. There should be help available. This country has lots of resources that are wasted on meaningless stuff. We have to do better. We need to worry about people and their pets in hopeless situations like this. PLEASE SHARE THIS SO THEY CAN BE HELPED AND STAY TOGETHER. Of course the dog and Her person are heartbroken. OF COURSE. Why didnt someone reach out to the media or online and get a story going and some attention and some funds raised. Im sure that would have been their salvation. How disappointing. I dont know much but Im sure of that. Even if the owner feels defeated, depressed and has given up hope - it would change that with getting help. It may have taken a little effort to initiate but what a better outcome it would have been to keep the man and his dog together. You may have even gotten some positive attention from the media for yourselves - your rescue - as well for trying to help keep them together. Heres what is going on while you pass judgement publically about us online: We are all working, and caring for our families and sitting in rush hour traffic as this was happening. We spend money that wont go to our families to feed and care for these dogs. One of us was physically juggling this frightened dog and the rest of her family until late. WE ALL HAVE FOSTERS. We are exhausted and stressed and DOING SOMETHING. We got a place for Anya to go immediately...to safety. Her former owner had a place to go too with family. If this wasnt so common this might be news, but this happens EVERY DAY. People fall on hard times, and owner surrender dogs are euthanized without a stray hold at shelters, especially before holiday weekends, so we saved her life. That was the crisis. He has friends and family to help him. There are groups that help homeless people with dogs in NYC that are doing great work! PLEASE put your energy into fundraising or volunteering for them if this issue is close to your heart! They need your help. But bashing us online, who did that serve? There are people like me that would have donated money to keep her with her owner had you gone that route rather than to forge ahead with their separation. I am speaking of this one particular dog and her owner NOT the other ones that you have helped. So dont try to make this about any other dog that youve helped.
