Conversation today with my doctor: #ObamacareSucks! $6000 OUT of POCKET, co-pay $35 from $15 prior is driving me nuts having to explain this over and over and telling people to call their insurance company. The agents just tell them what they want to hear, yes youre covered, doesnt matter anymore for pre-existing....yada, yada, yada. Then they come to me, some my same regular patients that have to come once a month for treatment check-ups, or blood work to monitor that their prescriptions arent affecting the liver or what have you, and they are complaining because before they would have hit their out-of-pocket obligation or darn close to it between me and another specialist. Thats not happening when you have a $6000 out of pocket. Me to my favorite doctor today: so it was better if they had just went ahead and purchased catastrophic medical care? Doc: YES! Because ACA is only giving you a $500 out-of-pocket for the most part with EMERGENCY room coverage, from what Im seeing. I have practice admittance and privileges with 4 large hospital in the area, trust me on this. Its cheaper to just go to the emergency room..BUT, you will have a lot of kick-off charges after the out-of-pocket is met. Me: Im assuming this from those that signed up when first available and everything went through for them. Doc: Yes and also the ones finding that a lot of prescriptions arent covered and Im not seeing the pharmacy reps that use to come around with certain prescriptions that have increased in price significantly. Be prepared for worse.
