Conviction keeper 2 Timothy 2:13 (ERV) If we are not faithful, he will still be faithful, because he cannot be false to himself. In today’s world, faithfulness requires Christians to withstand the pressures that come with the society in which we live. Shortly after his arrival in Babylon as a captive, Daniel faced tremendous pressure from a pagan culture, especially at the royal table with which he was tempted. (Daniel 1:5-16 ERV). He knew eating the same food and wine as the king was wrong, and acted in support of his convictions. The result? Daniel and his friends received favor and were given health. God protected and kept them. The whims of modern culture exert constant pressure on you—to compromise, deceive, even outright rebel against God. Faithful resistance must be maintained if you are to display a positive and powerful witness to those around you. Daniel’s faithfulness was challenged, but he prevailed. So will you as you prioritize His Word and stand on His promises and principles. Even more, you have God’s assurance that He will still be faithful, even if you slip up. Lean on Him as you resist, and trust in the Lord to strengthen you as you keep your convictions.
