Cook Islanders - contributing to the development of Aotearoa for over 100 years! Meitaki Poto Williams for articulating in the NZ Parliament the many and substantive contributions made by Cook Islanders to the development of New Zealand for more than 100 years. From the more than 500 soldiers that volunteered to serve as part of New Zealand in World War 1 100 years ago, to the mills of Tokoroa over 50 years, fruit picking, service industries to the many professional and business areas in which Cook Islanders are working today. We have not only served, we have given industry, hard work and in some cases, our lives for Aotearoa. As we look forward to 50 years of self-government in free association with New Zealand in 2015, let us celebrate and give due recognition to the substance of our relationship - for it is so much more than just members of the realm. https://youtube/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QW2O3GqZ5OE
