Cook Islands Doctor in Charge - Dr Joe Williams Aitutaki born and raised Pacific health pioneer; instigator and active member of the Pacific Prostate Cancer Foundation. A distinguished medical and political career, Dr Williams has much to offer our Cook Islands and Pacific people in New Zealand. According to Dr Williams, statistics show the numbers of men diagnosed with prostate cancer in New Zealand - around 3000 - is similar to the number of women diagnosed with breast cancer. But approximately 600 men die each year from prostate cancer while the number of women dying from breast cancer has dropped dramatically. Its the men... they dont come forward whereas women do, says Dr Williams. Theres an ad about Pacific women talking and joking about it.. you dont see that with our men. Akamaroiroi mai to tatou iti tane, lets support and enourage our men to get tested for prostate cancer, for all our sakes. spasifikmag/28aprildrjoewilliams/
