Cookie Monsters name is Sid he originally appeared with George Burns as an unnamed lunch counter monster the puppet was later named Arnold the Munching Monster and used in Frito-Lay potato chip commercials for a little while afterward, he was used as a new unnamed character on sesame street and he would eat the letters or numbers that that episode was brought to you by if you remember that when the letter C came up he sang a song called C is for Cookie and eating cookies became a major part of the character in a later song he sings called The First Time Me Eat Cookie, he says before he was called Cookie Monster his name was Sid, but everyone on the show still calls him Cookie Monster
