Cooking up careers at Porter Ridge High What: Union County Public Schools opened its first culinary arts academy at Porter Ridge High this fall. The course provides students with the fundamentals of learning about safety and sanitation, menu planning and food production. Through hands-on activities, students are also learning about hospitality and service. The course is designed to prepare students for careers in catering, event planning, food services and hotel/hospitality management. The culinary arts class will hold an Open House session for school staff, students and parents. Students will prepare food for guests and give them a tour of their new classroom. Media is invited to preview the open house session by visiting the classroom and speaking with students before the event.
