Cool story, Forbes posted one of my Instagram photos in the #MyTopCollege contest. It landed an honorable mention along with 26 other schools in the US. forbes/pictures/gfhf45eji/john-brown-university What I told them: I posted the photo I put up in particular because Im obsessed with the new fountain we have on campus and what it means to the people here. Since my freshman year, rumors of our pretty campus getting a pretty fountain had cycled amongst the student body. This past Spring, the rumors finally came to life. The area where the fountain lies was beautiful without it there to begin with, but the fountain really is the icing on the cake, establishing a central area of campus thats welcoming and inviting. Already, traditions of seniors taking a plunge after their last final, and pranks of shower chairs being placed in the fountain have occurred. Ive seen people reading books for hours, students playing their guitars for the fun of it, and friends having deep conversations at the base of the fountain. There was even a proposal between two lovers soon after it started running. These moments and memories really bring out what I love about JBU: community. John Brown holds a campus environment where friends are easy to make and enemies are none to be found. Its a safe place, full of laughter and joy, where peers and professors walk along with you to encourage and push you in the calling God has set for your life. Its a funny thing that something like a fountain can show that about our campus even more, but its a beautiful and happy thing as well. Hooray!
