Correction: Hamas submitted terms for a ten year truce, which have been ignored, and Israel repeatedly violates cease fire agreements and continues an illegal and brutal occupation. I keep hearing Hamas wont let civilians leave. Correction: Gazans are blocked, by Israel, and have nowhere to go, nowhere to hide. I keep hearing Israel has a right to self defense. Correction: Israel is illegally occupying and oppressing Palestinians under international law, and has no such right, legally. I keep hearing Israel is only attacking terrorist enclaves. Correction: Israel is indiscriminately killing civilians, as per the statistics and international recognition from governments and aid organizations alike. I keep hearing But what about the rockets. Correction: The rockets have little to no effect. Each one is a rudimentary weapon costing 500-800 US Dollars each, while Israel has a multi-billion dollar defense system that intercepts and destroys 90% of them. The remaining 10% are, as far as rockets go, ineffective. Throw a tin can at a brick fortress and you might break a window, someone might get cut by some glass, but the death toll, while sad in the sense that all life is valuable, is not anything remotely approaching the effect of the bombardments on Gaza. I keep hearing Gazans should flee. Correction: There is nowhere to flee. Gaza is an open air prison, surrounded by blockade and under siege for years. I keep hearing Israel withdrew in 2005. Correction, Israel removed 8000 settlers from Gaza and relocated 14,000 to illegal settlements in the West Bank, where they seize and dominate the resources and have an alternative infrastructure of roads and services that are for Jewish people only. I keep hearing This is a conflict. Correction: This is ethnic cleansing and a series of compounded war crimes. I keep hearing Israel is a democracy. Correction: citizenship in Israel is predicated on religious identity, in violation of the democratic principle of equality before the law--Israel is the equivalent of Saudi Arabia or ISIS, in this regard, except that Israel is White, and Western, and so it gets a pass to do whatever it likes.
