Copied from my husband. Please keep my father in law in your prayers. Dean update: The surgery to replace dads mitral valve in his heart was successful. The valve is in and functioning. He has had a hard time getting his lungs to work properly since taking him off the heart/lung machine. We were told yesterday that we need a miracle. Doctors and nurses were concerned about his oxygen levels and possible neurological damage. At 4:00 a.m. The nurses called us into his room. His eyes are responsive. He knows left from right and can squeeze our hands on command. He is trying to mouth words. He is still intubated, and cant speak, but he is trying to. When mom went to leave the room to get some rest, he gestured with his hand that he wanted her to stay and hold his hand. We just may be getting our miracle! ---------- The Dr. told us this morning that when he left yesterday, he did not think that dad would make it through the night. Today, he is surprised and happy to see him responsive and slowly on the mend. He says dad is by no means out of the woods, but he said we have something today that he didnt have yesterday; Hope. Please keep the prayers coming. I believe that prayer has gotten us this far and it can eventually take my dad home.
