The week long program is hosted in a partnership with the Copperas Cove Independent School District and is aimed at those Junior High School students who will be entering the 8th grade. Topics included during the camp will be fire service history, communications, fire extinguishment, emergency medical services, aeromedical response, rescue, team work and leadership. The final day of the class will afford the students the opportunity to apply the skills that they have been taught during the week under very strict and controlled conditions. The students will search for and rescue a victim in a smoke filled environment and utilize fire hoses and fire extinguishers to suppress various types of fires. The camp will close with a graduation ceremony which will include a short photo/video presentation. The children as well as their families will be invited to attend as well as members of the School District, City Council and Staff. Gary D.
