Copperhead Callie and I returned home yesterday evening, dusk almost dark after a fun fill day, we looked and her horse was in the square pen, so I told her we better check and make sure the gate isnt shut, no water in there , of course she is all in for this lil adventure. We parked the truck and headed that way. We get to the cattle gap and she decides with holding my hand she will cross it, in shorts and flip flops. It took a while but the quality time to teach her this is priceless. We got across and checked on Goldie, the gate was open, she was just cleaning up whys my horse Red had dropped. We headed back home and when we got to the cattle gap a little voice told me to pick her up and swing her across, in mid swing I caught something out of the corner if my eye, I thought , I told Callie to go in the house , after scanning and looking I saw it, the elusive CopperHead ( snake) I went to get my flashlight and the Judge, if youre not familiar with the Judge its a 5 shot revolver that shoots 410 shotgun shells, I raced back to the cattle gap, looking , searching , nothing , could I have just been seeing things ? Man thoughts running through my head , I know I saw it, so I scanned every inch of the gap, I almost gave up when out of the same eye, same corner there the nasty serpent was , crawling down the drain out of the cattle gap where we walk at least a half dozen times a day , I took aim, pulled the trigger and Off with his head ! My eyes are always open for any and all serpents that could possibly hurt my babies and the same end will come , I would like to thank the Big God I serve for protection and that little voice to let me know as he has done for me , carry her across this time Good day 🔫
