Copy Pasted Love: When in Maseno School, I made it a habit of passing through Alego before going to the City. Like any teenage Boy, we would meet at our Simbas to share our exploits during the term. One incident still amuses me decades later. There is one girl from Ugenya I met in some school drama festival. She wrote me a letter, sprinkled with flowers, and kisses and splashed with sweet smelling perfume. The teenage adrenalin in me rushed and I hugged that letter, written in tantalizing and free flowing heart warming language, for half a term. She lovingly signed off, that she was dreaming to be mine forever, and baptised herself Judy-GordonsI could not wait to meet my buddies in Hawinga village, to boast about my great conquest. As soon as I arrived in the Village, I met Atomy Wod Odianga- from Sawangongo High waiting for me. He had come early from School, and appeared more excited than usual. He dragged me to his Simba before my Grandmother could even order the Chicken to be chased and slaughtered for me. He really was in a rush to show me something- which I though was very urgent. On entering his Simba, the scent of perfume made my heart miss a beat. When he fished out the letter from below his pillow- I nearly fainted. It was the same person that had written the letter that made me go bonkers, It was exactly the same letter- only that this time she signed off as Judy-Tommy. Well, from that day, I learnt to vet, verify, assess, investigate anything before believing. I really pity Vijana of these days, it is so easy to copy paste, and send to several people the same message. So before you kiss that Phone that has some hot SMS, or that Computer that has some tantalizing message in your FB Inbox- make sure it is not copy pasted love.
