In my previous essay, you have seen how it is often difficult to map out a family tree. While mapping out a tree one has to stay very flexible mentally and be open to correcting mistakes one has made within the family tree program we are using. The only way to do the research correctly is to get into the archival data. If one enters a specific name like Jaime III or Jaime segundo baron...and you come away with an error message sit at your computer and think about using another patronomic combination. Just because a books author gives you Jaime I, II, III or Jaime de Aragon within their work does not mean that those names are correct. In my case I began thinking about the document I discovered pertaining to Pedro de Exerica who was Jaimes brother. I also kept in mind that they were infantes, entitled princes. What if Jaime was also called, Jaime de Exerica? I entered that new name into the browser within the archive and the correct beginning and ending dates. My computer waited for the results of my search and I began to get excited because I knew that data was coming my way. These reference documents are important sources because they confirm your ancestral connection to a specific individual. This is what came up for me on my computer screen: The documents proved my theory that the Jaime carried the same place name as his brother, Pedro de Exerica. Now I have to correct the entry for his name within my family tree to change his name according to the documents found within the archive. Getting back to Jaimes wife, Beatriz de Lauria. Her marriage to Jaimes brother came as a big surprise becaise that marriage created another branch of cousins for all of us.
