Corduff U 15 Premier Match Report 1/9/13 Donacarney Celtic v Corduff FC ( 1 - 3 ) An early start for the 10 AM kick off away to Donacarney Celtic in Drogheda, a new team to the NDSL that won the double in their league last year, and we arrived at their pitch and found it based on a sloped hill across the pitch ( in fairness, their new grounds are not yet ready to use ). This combined with big robust opposition made playing football difficult, having said that some fancy interplay between midfielders Steve Morley and Corie Farrell put big Kelo through in the box, and he took it down and hammered the ball to volley it past their keeper after 10 mins. Corduff had some good chances in the first half and had a lot of play down the wings with Vino and Wardy, playing in Crouchy. Second half, and Donacarney came out battling as expected, but great efforts from the Corduff defence with Doyler, Sean Dillon, Killian and Wardy helped by Boots sorted any threats out. Corduff got their second with a clever dink from Crouchy who was ever dangerous throughout the match, and then could have made it three but Corie Farrells goal was ruled offside. Donacarney came back and scored from a free outside the box, and the Corduff team dug in and made the game safe in the last 10 mins with a super goal from Vino, who battled to win the ball on the left wing and charged at the goal to sweetly dink it in over the keepers head. 3-1 it finished, and a hard fought win, that should have been more, but with such a difficult pitch and early start away from home, is a good start to the season and three points in the bag. Man of the match - Eoin Doyle as sweeper cleaned up at the back Up the Duff !
