Cork Business Association welcomes city improvements Cork Business Association welcomes Cork City Council’s launch of a new grant scheme to aid building improvements in the Oliver Plunkett Street area. Commenting, Lawrence Owens, CEO of Cork Business Association, said, “We are delighted to see Cork City Council invest in the development and improvement of Cork City Centre. It is a great step forward to have a scheme that not only improves city businesses and amenities for future retention and investment, but also helps to entice tourists into one of Cork’s most loved streets”. “The Cork Business Association were delighted to be of assistance in the consultation process of the scheme and look forward to ensuring it reaches its maximum potential. We will continue to use our resources to advise building owners and occupiers in the city on how to improve the overall condition and appearance of their buildings facades”. The Oliver Plunkett Street Area Building Façade Improvements Grant Scheme is partly funded from Cork City Council’s new City Centre Fund 2014, which aims to improve the appearance and fortunes of the Cork’s city centre area by investing in its development and improvement, following the identification of project priorities through strategy and consultation with key stakeholders, namely the Cork Business Association. The new grants scheme lays out initiatives aimed at improving building facades in the Oliver Plunkett Street area, and the area bound by South Mall, Grand parade, St. Patrick’s Street, Maylor Street and Parnell Place.
