Corner 2 Corner In an effort to reduce pedestrian collisions, the Phoenix Police Department will be kicking off the “Corner 2 Corner” Pedestrian Education and Enforcement Program on Monday June 17th. The three week program will begin with a week of educational contacts for pedestrians and motorists. It will be followed with two weeks of enforcement efforts. Collisions involving pedestrians happen too frequently in our community. Pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility between pedestrians and motorists. Many times the collisions occur when pedestrians cross mid-block. At other times, collisions occur when pedestrians disregard safety around bus stops and the light rail. The collisions also occur when motorists fail to yield for pedestrians in crosswalks. Regardless of the cause, the consequences can be disastrous.
