Corporate Fast Day 5: Friday, January 17th Read: Isaiah 58:10-12, John 5, Matthew 1-3 Focus: Isaiah 58:12, “Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” (NIV) Not about a return to the good old days of religion, but raising up the foundations -- we are called to build foundations, to repair walls that were there to provide security, streets that were meant to provide pathways to dwellings where people can rest and be in community -- what privilege is this invitation to build up rather than tear down a life, home, church, community, nation, and world -- that a true fast can be a part of bringing about the heaven on earth we sing about...well, count me in.
