Corporate Interaction Session- Topic: Economic perspectives in Corporate Social Responsibility Speaker: Mr. Mehul Kothare The speaker started the session by talking about the concept of CSR and how TCS has adopted an initiative known as TCS maitree which engages the employees and reach out to focus areas of an organization, society, ngos and middle institutes. He stated that 65% of the total revenues of Tata Group is contributed to the community. TCS has initiated many programs within working hours to serve the community.He also listed the CSR activities which include adventure clubs engaged in trekking, summer camps and music clubs. In addition to the above, TCS Maitree also conducts conversational English classes to blind students, Dakshin kalkin, cricket clubs etc. TCS Maitree stands for together, caring and sharingThe CSR department of TCS has 10,000 volunteers and is involved in 60+ schools over the weekends.TCS also involves family members of the employees to be a part of CSR programmesSome of the initiatives include : Health checkup camps, vivicitta- run for a cause, blood donation drives Women in panvel have been trained for income generation for Mumbai & Bangalore marathon TCS tied up with taj and got people trained for housekeeping etc. External counselors for the community to bring about rural improvement STEM for under privileged children TCS has worked externally with unicef, nasscom, world bank etc Safety first software for women. -By SIES Social Media Committee 14-15
