(at min 1:15) https://youtube/watch?v=JQ0eHnkmKVo Fortuna crew leader Melina Di Stefano became curious about amphibians while doing salmon habitat restoration with her crew in Nor Cals streams. Seeing her interest, her C-1 (crew supervisor) challenged her to do some research on the animals and write about her findings in her journal. Melina took it one step further and became a crusader for one of Californias threatened species. A section of one of her journal entries will be featured in a book on California wildlife that will be published in late 2015. People are really starting to realize that corps members are the front line, hands-on stewards of our states public trust (nature). Great job, Melina!
