Corrupt ion in Uganda Police Force. The Uganda Police Force has consistently been on the spot for being the most corrupt government institution. During talk shows involving the police similar sentiments have been expressed by the community. The complaints against the police were also raised during the Eastern Leg of the Anti corruption Caravan with a community member specifically proposing that the Traffic Police should be given “pock less” uniforms so that they have nowhere to put the bribes from Taxis. In Teso, over loading of passengers have become a norm and the traffic officers have been silent promoters of this crime. Over loaded taxis by pass check points being manned by traffic officers and in some cases, when they stop the vehicles they just get in to a conversation with the driver before flagging off the over loaded vehicle without any penalty. However, there are committed officers who consistently stand for what is right. In Kumi District, Afande Namyalo (Police Number 57287) has consistently stood up against over loading on Soroti- Mbale Road and those in breach have always paid the price for overloading as is indicted in the pictures. However the check point on the Ngora district side is notorious for receiving money from drivers. The check point under the mango tree is located just after mukura center as one is heading to Kumi. When over loaded taxis approach this check point, the conductor drops money, usually between 2,000/= and 5,000/= and they proceed without any sanction
