Corruption and government servants - why has it become such a synonymous theme. We all go through the same education system, have similar upbringing in our families, but why so many government servants become so blatantly corrupt and cause inconvenience to rest of their fellow human being. Every small thing where you need government service, be it your driving license, land registry service, police verification for passport, you have to pay. My septuagenarian father is finally applying for passport to come visit us. When his passport application went for police verification, they asked for my grandfather and grandmothers death certificate. They never felt for a moment what kind of inconvenience this will cause to an old man who served his nation through Indian Air Force and FCI. Fortunately, I have uncles who will support my father and get the necessary documents. Many old men may not have that. When will these government servants who gets paid on tax we pay will feel shame. We should start a public campaign of naming and shaming every government official in West Bengal who seeks bribe. Facebook is a really powerful tool. At least lets have these utterly corrupt people know that thousands of people know they are corrupt. Wise people say recognition and acceptance is the first step for change. Lets share the name of corrupt govt servants whenever we are forced to pay a bribe or whenever we are forced to suffer inconvenience at their hands unduly.
