Corruption in every sense of the word !... Bord Gais - now known as Ervia since the Govt sold off the gas supply Bord Gais name to the private gas supply company Centrica (you see a pattern here?) questioned the Govt on the need to install meters.. Why, they asked, spend €539 Million to fit meters instead of just setting a flat rate charge that could be used to begin repairing leaks - Exactly the opposite to what the Govt have done ! Now (aside from the fact NO CHARGES should exist as we already pay) the big questions are .. just WHY did they decide on Metering ? 1) Why go with metering at all ? As a way of enabling a party ally his foot in the door, in the first stage towards privatisation thats why... read on.. 2) Why turn down Siemens offer of fitting meters fro free ? Because this would upset the pre-arranged plot ..oops plan.. of awarding the contract to the same ally referred to in question 1 - a certain Denis OBrien - so he can take over the business of Irish Water when its up and running (Which it NEVER will be!) 3) Why CONTINUE with a meter installation programme when Irish Water have now switched to flat rates ? and the Govt have promised (dont you get worried when the Govt promises things - like the USC was only for a year) to have them for four years ? Why ? So that if they get re-elected (probably not next time because they are are going to have such a sore arse after weve kicked them out they wont be able to sit down let alone get re-elected!) but the term after that, they will claim they have a mandate (Govt term for doing anything it wants!) to go to metered charges ! 4) If Irish Water is allowed to succeed, and it inevitably gets privatised, THEY will be able to decide to go to metered charges anyway ! and the Govt will wring their hands and say nothing to do with us 5) Heres the best bit.. We can all place bets on which current member of the Govt gets on the board of either Bord Gais..sorry Ervia.. or Irish Water after theyve been booted out at the election ! After all, look where Brian Cowen is now.. a director of his old Anglo buddy Denis OBriens company Topaz (nice payback for bailing Anglo out, allowing OBrien to get away with not paying back €150 Million he owed them - we paid it back for him!) Its hard to believe there is a more corrupt country in Western Europe at this time than ours.
