Palma said that the dispersal aims to provide the beneficiaries added farm animals and livestock or something to start with as simple livelihood and will show the people that the Provincial Government of Cotabato practically extends assistance to all constituents regardless of groups or ethnic membership. “The animal dispersal to IP-recipients attests to the fact that Cotabato Gov. Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza’s administration upholds equality to all her constituents – Christians, Muslims and Lumads especially in providing livelihood assistance”, Timuey Palma said. Timuey Palma said that the IP’s upon receiving the animals felt reprieved and happy knowing that these will help them improve their livelihood and provide additional income. The dispersal of heifers and ducks was supervised by Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Rufino Sorupia and some personnel from OPVET and at the same time urge the beneficiaries to take good care of the animals as it is intended to help them uplift their living conditions. Under the Animal Dispersal Program of the Provincial Government of Cotabato, the beneficiaries are advised to take proper care of the farm animals and livestock and in the case of heifers the first offspring must be given back to OPAG. The OPAG, in return, will use the offspring for its succeeding dispersals. In this manner, the program’s sustainability will be ensured, thus, benefiting more farmers and other beneficiaries. The distribution of heifers and ducks to the recipients were done near barangay halls and were attended by village officials, beneficiaries and their families and the officers of CCTE. All of them pledged to make the most out of the farm animals and ducks so that it will serve its purpose of helping them attain better livelihood. (JIMMY STA.
