Cotopaxi, 5897m Highest active volcano in the world. Climbed on Halloween, took two days second day started at 1am from a mountain hut, had 6-7 inches of fresh snow overnight which made climbing extremely difficult and the avalanche danger really high. Storm cleared at midnight and we climbed all night with nothing but stars above us. Appreciated climbing in the dark, going back down in day light we could see all the crevasses, glaciers and seracs we had navigated in the dark. We made it to 5650m before the guides stopped us due to the danger. Absolutely stunning views at dawn with six other volcanos surrounding us. Had an awesome time, it is absolutely exhausting at that altitude, gutted we missed out on the summit but the guides really knew what they were doing and as the sun came up the avalanche danger increased with every hour. Saw condors and wolves , may try again for the summit in the future.
