Could everyone please show this to any 16-24 year olds they know. You may remember i while back i did the status about doing the Livestream with the chief of police for Avon & Somerset, he agreed but when i came to it his higher ups said it could only be a prerecord...the interview was 1 hour and a half of waffle (one good bit where he admits weed might as well be legal and that clip will be going in a documentary). To try and make this long status as short as possible i was going to leave that group (IAG=Independent Adversary Group for Avon & Somerset) after that but didnt and yesterday I was voted to be the chair of the whole group...which means Im in control and they cant just boy it off like they did anymore. The first thing I said I would do is set up a Young Media Group that reflects all of Bristol which is what this status is about. I want some Young people from different areas in Bristol to come be apart of some extreme Journalism. What I have built is the chance to access any police officer in Avon & Somerset for questioning and access to police files, access to University Professors, access to Mainstream Media workers such as the BBC and ITV, access to politicians in Bristol and of course access to the community of Bristol it self. I havent done documentaries for a while purposely waiting for a point that i feel I can make maximum impact and I feel like now is the time. The Government wants to make a website for young people by young people in Bristol (sounds a bit bait but I know half the people on it it should ok) and they want me to do a Masterclass in May with the young people and that got me thinking. So the Young people who get involved with my project will also get regular Masterclass from all the really talented people I know in all aspects of Creative Business and activism (first is April 2nd if the response is quick enough working with new multi camera multi screen technology). Also it means there is at least one other set of young people to collab with (though I think generally the SB group might be going a bit to deep but hopefully there is a balance with positive news) This will be a great chance to upgrade anyones CV as South-Blessed equipment is getting a big upgrade though sponsorship and the reach of the network but there is also the chance for it to be paid internship for 6 months for up to 8 people (you must do a certain amount of work first and be on Job seekers now) that could lead to permanent Jobs (open to anyone but certain amount of work has to be put in first) To give you a taste of what documentaries where brought up at yesterdays meetings as possibilities: A group of people are accused of running a Pedophile in bristol and will be in mainstream media in about 5/8 weeks. The stabbing on Stokes Croft. Drug laws in bristol. Stop and search rates in Bristol and Racism in the Avon and Somerset Police. I would obviously want the input of the group it self but this is just a taste of the depth that is possible. There is more opportunities and positive aspects going on behind the scenes at South-Blessed involving international links to mention one aspect quickly but this status is long enough so if you are between 16-24 and interested get in contact [email protected] I understand there is corruption everywhere and this ride is not necessarily as easy as this status makes it out to be but this is as good a set up for real journalism as I could create so would love for some young people to come and take advantage of it.
