Could people here help me fill in any forgotten record stores in my list below? Now that record stores have largely gone the way of drive-in theaters I would like to write up something for The Bee or indy publication about Modestos past record shops. Not the chain stores like The Wherehouse or the current FYE. I used to live in Modesto 1972-2000, now Im in Sonora. I owned Beat Music in Modesto for 8 years up to December 1999. I moved it to Sonora and continued to operate it until 2003 when I sold it. So many of my memories are related to these record shops below. Even Harley Records where I bought a blue vinyl 45 of Todd Rundgren Hello Its Me, it doesnt seem like it was near 43 years ago. I remember riding up on my bike as a teen going into Saltys Records, and still visiting the owner Ramona a couple years back and telling her about by grandson. I hear that Rasputins opened by the mall. Thats cool. What record shops do you remember? Harley’s Records (50’s-60’s ?) Mother’s Records (70’s) Records by Twilight (70’s) Far Around Records (70’s) Eucalyptus Records (70’s) Barney’s Good Time Music (70’s) Salty’s Record Attic (70’s-2000’s) Replay Records (80’s-90’s) CD Exchange (90’s) Beat Music (90’s) Rasputins - newly opened
