Could someone please call the doctor. My ribs are totally hurting so bad. I need my medication. Where is my weed? Damn, I do not even use it. This is totally above me. I cannot believe that I woke up to just read this. My day is totally ruined. No wonder #Uganda is at war.. well, see the other article I posted. Happy Sunday to you all. #StopTheLiesTetuliBasilu. I am being so honest now and Uganda is going to be a very rich nation. What do you think people, can we be honest and kill this story with a passion. Passion is great when channeled in the right way. Lets go. --------------------------------- By Taddeo Bwambale KAMPALA - Retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi has said Uganda can be the wealthiest nation on the planet if citizens are honest. He went on to advise civil servants to use their God-given gifts creatively and exercise ethical conduct at all times. Orombi said this at the End of Year Thanksgiving Ceremony of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) held at its training centre in Kampala on Friday. “I have worked for the Church of Uganda and I have never stolen any shilling, but I got money to it. My record is clean as water and I am peaceful in my retirement,” he said. “If you work for the government, always leave a clean record. If you are a father of a family or a politician, have a clean record from January to December,” he advised. ‘Beautiful weather, fertile soil’ In his preaching drawn from the Biblical Parable of Talents, Orombi said Uganda has potential to become the wealthiest nation on earth if individuals and institutions work in honesty. He advised employed professionals in the public and private sectors to be faithful to the responsibility God has assigned them, promising that God will reward their faith. “When you perform well and with faithfulness, it is not your company or boss that rewards you but God,” Orombi said. “Uganda, with the kind of beautiful weather, fertile soil and abundant water would be the wealthiest place on earth. I travelled to Israel and been to River Jordan and the Sea of Galilee. Israel does not have resources but they produce for export.” Orombi, who retired in 2012, advised professionals to use their time and skills wisely, saying each would account for their time on earth. Wider water network The First Lady and Minister for Karamoja, Janet Museveni appealed to Ugandans to exhibit professionalism and dedication in their work. She commended the corporation (NWSC) for its outstanding performance over the years and its dedication to providing safe and clean water and its achievements. (Photo credit: PPU) NWSC has expanded its coverage from 23 towns across the country to 74 while the customer base has grown from 39,914 connections to about 400,000 connections. The piped water network has grown from 116 kilometres to 1,200 kilometres per year while monthly billing has grown to sh14.6b to sh18.2b. Eng Silver Mugisha, the NWSC Managing Director said the corporation targets to double the coverage of piped water network within five years and ensure every urban centre has access to safe and clean water. He said the corporation had started work on the largest water and waste treatment plant in East and Central Africa at Bugolobi in Kampala. ‘Urgent need of dedication’ This year, the corporation has won six international awards. At home, NWSC won the Best Performing Utility in Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets for the Financial Year. “On behalf of all customers, stakeholders and Government, I want to thank you all and congratulate you on the seriousness and dedication you have exhibited so far in the program as you move steadily throughout the country, giving communities the greatest commodity they need-clean and safe water,” Mrs. Museveni said. She said such performance and recognition had distinguished the organisation from “disappointing performance” of some other public utilities in the recent times. “The country urgently needs more dedication and professionalism in its public servants, and you are a sterling example of that breed.” The First Lady said such performance was indication that the body was on course to achieving its targets highlighted in the Five Year Strategic Direction of 2013. She said the country was proud of dedicated Ugandan professionals who take their work seriously, reminding them that they serve God through their devotion to service. “God gives all of us a chance to serve and to make a difference in the communities we work in. You have a reason to smile because you know that you have given many communities a chance to live better lives, to bring up their children without debilitation from many water-borne diseases and set them on a path to become better contributors to the national economy. “When we serve God’s people in such a dedicated and excellent manner, we are serving God in the most meaningful way, and God is pleased with us,” she advised. “Remember that God works through people to do His will on earth, and by doing your job well, you are serving God directly.” Mrs. Museveni challenged all public servants to emulate the achievements of the water body in their daily lives and wished all Ugandans a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous 2015. On his part, the Archbishop of Kampala, Dr Cyprian Lwanga encouraged Ugandans to embrace peace with God, themselves, neighbours, families, and the country. newvision.co.ug/news/663074--with-honest-people-uganda-can-be-richest-nation.html
