Could the coolest small town be located right here in the Mountain State? Well, with your help, Buckhannon could take home that title. Thats because theyre one of 15 finalists for Budget Travels Coolest Small Town contest. To be eligible for the award, the places must have a population under 10,000. Its also based off of attractions, like restaurants, history, and shops. Buckhannon is the only town in our state in the running for the title, and officials there hope the whole state can help back them in this contest. Weve been working really hard to make Buckhannon a good place for people live, a good place for people to visit, so this could just help us get an extra push of publicity and recognition, said Laura Meadows, executive director of the Upshur County CVB. Right now, Buckhannon is in second place. You can help them take the lead by voting every day until February 25th in the contest.
