Could we please, in the best interest of Ebonyians , do an intellectual discourse here, no ad hominem comments. What proven experience has Mr Edward Nkwegu (alias Edon) to rule Ebonyi State, and where, beyond his immediate enclave, does he know in the state? If merit does count, as it ought to, and the factors that impede progress, such as mediocrity and clannishness, have no place in our polity, is Edon a match for Engr Dave Umahi, who has been Caretaker and substantive Chairman of Ebonyi State PDP, National Deputy Chairman of the Forum of State PDP Chairmen all over Nigeria and is currently the Deputy Governor of the state? Every worthwhile politician wants to be in the mainstream politics, which was why Chief Martin Elechi abandoned the then ANPP for the PDP. And every state that wants to attract Federal patronage will align with the ruling party at the Federal level. An opposition politician once lamented the evils and dangers endemic in being in the opposition. If majority of Ebonyians had not chosen not to submit to Elechis whimsical remote control to join the Labour Party, is Ebonyi, as the poorest State in the Federation, capable of surviving as a state ruled by a minority party, that presently does not control any state and does not have any member in the National Assembly?
