With nowhere to call home, he had climbed up onto the roof of a house and crawled in through an open window to find some shelter and somewhere to sleep. The house that Macauley chose to crash was empty as the owner of the property was in the process of selling it. That evening the owner went back to shut the windows and didn’t return to the house for 3 days. On her return, she noticed some cat paw prints on the stairs so she put some cat food in a bowl. The food was eaten but still no sign of a cat, so The Mayhew went round to assess the situation and set a cat trap with some food in overnight. The following morning, there was Macauley sitting in the trap, filthy dirty (more grey than white!) and feeling sorry for himself.
