Council contemplates eliminating the treasurer position San Juan Countys financial management will be one step closer to mimicking King Countys if the Council members ignore the advice of county Treasurer Jan Sears and the state Commerce Department and follow Auditor Milene Henleys wishes. She wants the elected office of the treasurer eliminated and the Auditors Office expanded. Sears, who is retiring at the end of this year after six terms as treasurer, describes the idea as a power play by an unchallenged incumbent.
