Council has created a bird viewing area within Doug Grant Reserve, with the help of funding from the Mayoral Program. New garden beds, a seat, and an interpretation sign have been installed between the Bay Trail and the beach. The interpretation sign provides information about our shorebirds and also the importance of this area with its close proximity to the neighbouring internationally significant RAMSAR site. For those of you who would like to improve your bird identification skills, the sign has colourful pictures of 40 different species you can find in the area.
