Councillor Tracey Leyland-Jepson Reports; The members of Mexborough Male Voice Choir are proud of the history and heritage which has kept them on song for the past 90 years. But as time marches on they are keen to attract new members to work in perfect harmony to swell their ranks. Choir member Alan Pepper, 74, said: “We are desperately trying to recruit as the choir has declined by about 20 members since I joined two years ago.” The choir – which once boasted Dearne superstar Brian Blessed among its ranks – sings at charitable events, weddings and other social occasions and gives two major concerts every year.
