Counselling, Confidentiality and the Law A participative workshop led by Peter Jenkins Friday September 20th 2013 10.00am. – 1.00pm at 151 Dale Street, Liverpool, L2 2AH Booking Deadline: Friday 13th September 2013 This is a popular and highly participative half-day workshop, designed to clarify the key aspects of confidentiality that relate to, for example: - data protection law - the counsellor’s duty to warn others - disclosure of records - enforced access to notes by third parties such as solicitors, police and the courts. The workshop is based on short scenarios, discussion and brief outlines of the law in non-technical language, with maximum opportunities for dialogue and follow-up questions. Peter Jenkins is an experienced counsellor trainer, and author of several books on the law, including Counselling, Psychotherapy and the Law (Second edition, Sage, 2007) He has extensive experience of running training workshops on legal aspects of therapy. He is a Senior Lecture in Counselling at Manchester University and an honorary counsellor at Manchester University Counselling Service.
