Countdown Started in Hyderabad District, India: 2 Parliamentary & 15 Assembly Constituencies (Are you ready..?) Nearly 65,000 new voters were enrolled in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction during a special camp held here on Sunday. These were apart from the over 1,83,000 others who had enrolled themselves between January 31 and March 8. Speaking to press delegates here on Tuesday, District Election Officer and GHMC Special Commissioner Rahul Bojja said these enrollments after scrutiny would be added to the final rolls that stood at 35,98,152 voters as on January 31. For the 15 Assembly and two Parliamentary constituencies that form the Hyderabad district, all the arrangements were being put in place as per the Election Commission guidelines, he said. The process of enrollment was a continuing affair and those who did not submit details can do so with the Electoral Registration Officers before March 31, Mr. Bojja said. “This process goes through certain statutory procedures hence takes some time. That’s why it is better to make a submission at the earliest,” he said. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said a total of 3,091 polling stations with some auxiliary stations would be set up for the polling day and around 30,000 personnel would be involved in the entire process. Nearly 16,000 EVMs would be used and all the arrangements for prescribed teams such as model code of conduct teams, flying squads, video and expenditure monitoring and police observations teams would be formed and put in place. Mr. Somesh Kumar said a control room was coming up at the GHMC head office to attend to complaints related to enrollment and the conduct of elections.
