Countdown to Christmas Song #12: Ive always considered this one of the best and most powerful Christmas songs of the modern era--a one-time only conglomeration of the leading 80s British pop stars, the first of the all-star benefit efforts for the starving in Africa. As years have passed, worldwide hunger unfortunately has not been alleviated, and the song has been criticized by some as rich rock stars fomenting bleeding-heart guilt over the sufferings of third-world countries.
