Country Doctor - Dr. Everett R. Cooper -Troy, Gilmer County, West Virginia Dr. Everett R. Cooper was born in Gilmer County in 1889, graduated from Glenville State Normal School in 1904, and from medical school in 1912. During his varied medical career, Dr. Cooper worked as a physician for the Pardee & Curtin Lumber Company in Leivasy, Nicholas County, opened his own practice in Troy, and worked on the medical staffs at psychiatric hospitals in Weston, Spencer, and in Gallipolis, Ohio. Dr. Cooper recalls the early days of his practice in rural West Virginia, sharing tales of his many experiences while taking care of the sick in remote areas. In those days, the doctor visited patients on foot or horseback, traveling in rain, snow, and all types of weather to take care of the patients. Dr.Everett R.
