Countryside Alliance panics as shooting gets set to follow fox hunting goo.gl/9PsQeY The writing is on the wall, the days when shooting birds and animals for fun will come to an end. It may take some time but then many on the pro hunting side never thought Fox Hunting would be banned! The decision by Marks and Spencer to stop stocking Red Grouse in its stores is the right move. An understanding that driven grouse for shoots leads to other species dying is a sign attitudes have changed toward shooting. Predictably the concern shown by the Supermarket was met with derision and outrage by the Countryside Alliance as the link below shows. Never for one moment could they see it from the Supermarkets view. Instead its how dare they listen to animal welfare campaigners, and how can we boycott the store. Which is the implied view when they say they are writing to M&S and their members on how to react. No doubt Mr Barney White-Spunner will make out stopping the sale of Red Grouse amounts to some affront to being English and being able to kill for fun! The only outlandish aspect in all of this is why anyone thinks the CA is an organisation that should ever have a say on anything. Led by people who delight in pure cruelty towards animals and birds they represent the worst of society. So we welcome their panic to this news as it marks yet another chink in their armour and the sure reality that one day the CA will be no more. Society does not need the Glorious Twelfth and neither does our poor wildlife. Those people who think killing wildlife for fun is acceptable in a modern society are wrong on every level. The Countryside Alliance are not the voice of rural people and are not a credible organisation for Government to deal with. In the years to come people will look back and wonder why they were ever listened to.
