County Committee Meeting 28th January, 2014 January County Committee Meeting Shorts Coiste Chontae Chiarraí held its first meeting of the new year in Austin Stack Park on Monday 27th January 2014. The following are brief notes of events at that meeting. • Details were given of the new initiative between the GAA and the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. • Details of Gaeltacht Scholarships for 2014 were given. Application forms are available from Cultural Officer Leona Twiss. • The new Hurling Management Team of Manager Eamonn Kelly, Trainer/Selector Brian Horgan and selectors D.J. Leahy and Tom O’Connell was ratified. They were given a two year term. • Tributes were paid to Kerry Senior Hurler Bernard Rochford who announced his retirement from intercounty hurling. Chairman, Patrick O’Sullivan said Bernard had a big influence in the dressing room and he thanked him for his huge contribution to Kerry Hurling and wished him continued success with his club, Killeagh. • It was reported that the recent Club Forum was a big success with regard to feedback form the clubs on the various topics under discussion. The various issues raised will now be assimilated and examined and will be made available to delegates at the next meeting of the county committee on February 17th. Keynote speaker, Mick O’Dwyer, was thanked for his tremendous keynote speech. • Spa GAA Club were congratulated on their success in the Set Dancing and Recitation at the Munster Scór na nÓg finals on Sunday last and they now join the Spa Question Time team who have already qualifies for the All Ireland Finals in the Royal Theatre Castlebar on Saturday March 1st. • Former County Secretary and current chairman of the CCCC in Croke Park, Tony O’Keeffe, was named as the chairman of the Senior County Championship Review Committee. Further appointments to the committee will be named at the next County Committee meeting. • A committee charged with investigating issues in regard to the AGM of the Kilgarvan Club recommended that the AGM be reconvened no later than February 17th. This was passed. • The final Draft of the Fixtures Calendar for 2014 was confirmed. County Leagues will commence on March 23rd, Club Championships on April 20th and the Senior Championship on June 1st. Fixtures for Division 5 of the County League have yet to be made. • The deadline for information for the Eolaire Information Booklet is Monday February 3rd next. • The annual Night at the Dogs fundraiser goes ahead on June 6th and is live on RTE TV.
